Terra Lago Groundbreaking in Indiantown

A Celebration of Attainable Homes & Apartments Coming to Martin County

Tuesday, March 26, 2024 | Indiantown, FL

Terra Lago LogoHundreds of people celebrated the groundbreaking of Terra Lago, a new community coming to the Villages of Indiantown, a hidden gem on Florida’s Treasure Coast. State leaders and local dignitaries including Florida Fish & Wildlife Chairman Rodney Barreto, Indiantown Mayor Susan Gibbs Thomas and Martin County School Board Chair Marsha Powers were on hand today to ‘move dirt’ and share in the excitement of this new 800-acre community being constructed in western Martin County.

Terra Lago, a Garcia Community, is one viable and noteworthy solution to the housing challenges facing the Sunshine State. This community was designed with working families in mind. It will consist of more than 2,000 single-family homes, townhomes and apartments, an assisted living facility, and 100,000 square feet of retail space.

“The legacy of The Garcia Companies has been to build sustainable businesses where we can give back to the people who live, work, and play in those communities,” said Josh Kellam, President of The Garcia Companies. “At Terra Lago we are able to offer the average everyday worker – first responders, nurses, teachers, and young people starting families – a place to call home in a community that values family and connection,” added Kellam.

The name “Terra Lago” comes from the fusion of “earth” and “lakes,” emphasizing the harmony between nature and community. About 40% of the neighborhood will remain natural habitat with acres of wetlands undergoing improvements. Common areas offer multiple lakes, walking paths, nature trails, and parks and will be open to the public.

“Terra Lago brings development on our terms,” said Indiantown Mayor Susan Gibbs Thomas.  “It will have a huge economic impact on this rural, tight-knit community. I hope Indiantown becomes known as Florida’s Hometown,” added Gibbs Thomas.

Terra Lago will be built in phases with the first group of homes expected to be completed in late summer of 2025. This community is conveniently located in South Florida, just a short drive away from Stuart, Port St. Lucie, and The Palm Beaches.
