Wednesday, May 30, 2018 | Virginia Beach, VA

On May 24, Andrea Kilmer, President and CEO of ESG, and her husband Ron were among approximately 200 attendees to witness the prestigious Medal of Honor award ceremony.  President Donald Trump presented Retired Master Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Britt K. Slabinski with the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions that took place in Afghanistan during the Battle of Takur Ghar in 2002.

In an attempt to rescue a fellow SEAL teammate, Master Chief Slabinski led a team through heavy enemy fire and treacherous terrain and rendered first aid to injured teammates until they were extracted 14 hours later. He previously received the Navy Cross award for his actions which have now been upgraded to the Medal of Honor. Master Chief Slabinski endured 15 combat deployments over his esteemed career.

Andrea and Ron also attended the ceremony for Master Chief Slabinski’s induction into the Pentagon Hall of Heroes which was held the following day in the Pentagon auditorium.

We salute Master Chief Britt Slabinski and all those who serve or have served our country.
